It was funded in part by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, and includes a two-DVD set of short films and a twelve-page biographical booklet. All proceeds from the sale of this DVD go directly to the Old Church Gallery.

Floyd Story Center, Old Church Gallery, Ltd., presents “From the Front Porch to the Front Lines: Rural Virginia on a Threshold of Change,” a film  of student movies from the Roots with Wings oral history project at Floyd County High School. The films in this series are the result of a nine-year effort to collect the stories of 23 Floyd County residents who came of age during the Great Depression and World War II.

This collection, funded in part by a 2017 public humanities grant from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, includes a two-DVD set of short films and a twelve-page biographical booklet, representing a trove of oral histories (1999-2017) held in the Old Church Gallery digital archives.

All proceeds from the sale of this DVD go directly to the Old Church Gallery.
