Description

Floyd Story Center, Old Church Gallery, Ltd., presents “From the Front Porch to the Front Lines: Rural Virginia on a Threshold of Change,” a film  of student movies from the Roots with Wings oral history project at Floyd County High School. The films in this series are the result of a nine-year effort to collect the stories of 23 Floyd County residents who came of age during the Great Depression and World War II.

This collection, funded in part by a 2017 public humanities grant from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, includes a two-DVD set of short films and a twelve-page biographical booklet, representing a trove of oral histories (1999-2017) held in the Old Church Gallery digital archives.

All proceeds from the sale of this DVD go directly to the Old Church Gallery.
